Motivation - I haz it...

So, as you may have read, I went to a couple of weddings, a hens and had a holiday in Noosa lastweek. Lovely. The downside? So many gorgeous people! Truly! All fit, fantastic and hot. One of my best friends (the bride of last saturdays wedding), has recently lost 30kgs. Yep - about a third of her body weight. She is now a size 10 and looks amazing - really amazing, not that 'I've just lost a pile of weight by not eating' look (ewww). She did it over two years with good eating and the help of a personal trainer. She is toned and buff. I want that, but having babies wasn't kind to my body (I have the works - floppy tummy, stretch marks and lovely caesarean scar), so I will settle for losing 15kgs, which will put me back in the size 10-12 zone.

Around 4 years ago (not skinny, but definitely littler):

Inbetween there was a bit of expansion
(I treasure these photos, taken by Alicia at Savvy Studios):

Now (not a whole body shot, but I'm not doing that to you):

After I had Eddie, I got all motivated and lost 7kgs, but then I stopped losing weight and got bored. So yesterday, super-psyched me reviewed my details on Calorie King and realised why I have't been losing weight - I was still listed as breastfeeding, which I am not. So there goes 600 calories a day - boo hoo. Oh and as a side note: Not everyone loses weight breastfeeding. I actually put it on, breastfeeding makes me hungry. Whoops.

Why stacking on the kgs was totally worth it (times two):

Why am I telling you all this? Well, if I have someone to answer to, I am way more likely to stay on the wagon, so here are my aims:

1. Eat well and record everything on Calorie King
2. Exercise everyday except Sunday - which means running up a storm on the treadmill 3-4 times a week, weights twice, one balance class a week and th Wii Fit on the days I don't go to the gym.
3. Lose 15kgs. I've given myself 6 months to do it in. Plenty of time (I hope).

If anyone is keen to join me, let me know and we can do it together (in spirit, obviously).

  1. I hopped on the bandwagon this Monday just gone. I am determined to lose the weight I put on after my wedding this year. I lost 8 kilos for the day and have nearly put that back on. Time to get fit! I have started eating better and getting on the Wii fit (whilst my husband is sick). He might be well enough to go for a run today. I hate running but it sure does wonders for the weight. That was my secret to losing 8 kilos at the beginning of the year.

  2. Ah running - yes, I'm hearing you. I started the Couch to 5k program earlier this year. I never, ever thought I'd be able to run, but I'm getting there slowly. I love the post-run high.

Good luck - I'll be thinking of you.

  3. Good for you Katie! I'd love to join you :) I've never ever been slim, but I have been lighter than I am now, so my aim is to lose another 7kgs [3kgs lost already] and then my next goal will be a further 5kgs.

I walk for an hour everyday, but my body's gotten used to it so I need to up the ante. I'm joining a bootcamp next Tuesday. I'll aim to go for a bike ride at the weekends too. Hopefully that, combined with a lot less time in the pub, will be enough!

  4. Go you, Ruth! It sounds like your goal is the same as mine (15kgs? I was always crap at maths). You know, bootcamp style training was how my friend lost all her weight. I really need someone to shove me along, but would probably cry. LOL.

  5. I'll join you. I've actually started today. After many many failed weight loss attempts, I've decided to take it just one day at a time. If I can eat properly and do a bit of exercise TODAY, well then that's good, and I'll try do it tomorrow again. I also need to lose 15kg! Let's go for it!! I'll be checking up on you!

  6. Welcome!

I was down 1kg on Monday, so I'm a happy camper. In other news, I was finally able (after two years) to do a proper 'plank' in Body Balance on Monday. It's lowering yourself to the ground really slowly in a push up, with your body in a straight line. My arms are paying the price, but I feel great!

  7. Well done on that 1kg loss! I just can't seem to get out the house for some exercise... not that my doors have been hammered shut, I'm just too lazy! I have been trying to cut down on my constant snacking though.... No weight loss as yet! All the best to you! x
